All students were included in the contest, even if they elicited not to participate.

For the written competition, 36 papers were reviewed as part of the paper acceptance process: each paper was reviewed by two judges. 28 judges expressed their preferences in the written competition and they reviewed between three and five papers. The written scores were normalized for each judge and the total score for each paper was the average of the normalized scores.

At the symposium, 20 presentations (four students were not present at the conference) and 10 posters were judged (2 students were not present to discuss their poster). One student presented three papers, and another one poster and one paper.

17 judges expressed their preferences in the presentation competition. Not all students were evaluated by the same judges and not all of them received the same number of votes, but each presentation was judged by at least 11 judges. The scores were again normalized for each judge and the total score for each presentation was the average of the normalized scores.

Four judges expressed their preferences in the poster competition. As for the presentations, the scores were normalized for each judge and the total score for each poster was the average of the normalized scores.

For the special awards, four judges were involved. Each judge subjectively selected and ranked up to five students as the possible winners of their special award.

For the written competition (28 papers), the same criteria as the student's written competitions applied.

At the symposium, 15 presentations and 9 posters were to be judged. One professional presented two posters, and another presented one paper and two posters.

Only four students expressed their preferences in the professionals' presentation competition. The scores were again normalized for each student and the total score for each presentation was the average of the normalized scores.

Only one students expressed its preferences in the professionals' poster competition, therefore the professional poster competition was cancelled.
